Injuring yourself is difficult, not only because of the
injury itself but also because of the lifestyle changes that you need to make
while you are recovering from an injury. For example, someone with an ACL tear
can’t walk or play sports for a long time. The same is true if you break your
leg and end up needing to have a cast. If you break your arm, you may need to
adjust the way that you write while your arm heals.
Whenever you have a cast, whether it’s on your arm or leg,
you need to get some type of cast protection that will keep your cast away from
water when you’re showering. This is necessary at a bare minimum, because if
your cast gets wet then you’re in big trouble. Not only will the moisture cause
plenty of unwanted issues like itching, but it can also cause the plaster in
the cast to dissolve and weaken the structure of the cast itself, potentially
causing re injury or requiring that you get a new cast in some circumstances.
